Annual Meeting Minutes

 Date: December 12, 2004

Place: Lone Pine Hunters Club, Hollis NH

 Time: 12:40

President Dan Madden called the meeting to order and he called for the reading for the minutes of all meetings since the last annual meeting.

The minutes of the annual meeting held December 13, 2003 and the state shoot meeting held July 11, 2004 were read.  A motion was made by Loren Hardy and seconded by Peter Tomaini to accept both sets of minutes.  Passed U.

The president then called for the treasurer’s report.

The treasurer presented a detailed report of revenues and expenses for 2004.  A motion was made by Loren Hardy and seconded by Peter Tomaini to accept the report as given.  Passed U.

Old Business

A discussion of the 2004 State Shoot ensued.  Overall the shoot was a success with excellent attendance.  Appreciation was expressed to Minute Man Sportsman’s Club for hosting the shoot.

Fred Lewis raised the question as to why the NH State Shoot deviated from the recommended averages in the ATA rule book.  It was explained that the averages in the rule book were only recommendations and that they reflected homogenization of all ATA shooters.  In the past it has been felt that the shooting conditions in the Northeast did not produce averages as high as the rest of the country and that a small downward adjustment to the averages was more reflective of prospective participant’s classification.

New Business

Steve Szczechura reported on the status of Pelham Fish and Game Club.  A letter from PF&G in response to the NHTA’s request to hold the 2005 NH State Shoot at PF&G on the weekend of July 8th was read into the record.  The letter stated that PF&G could not host the shoot on the weekend requested because of an already scheduled archery tournament but that they would be interested in hosting on an alternate date.  Paul Beasley, acting as a PF&G representative, spoke about what was going on at PF&G with regards to club availability for hosting the NH State Shoot and ATA shooting in general.

After a lengthy discussion about moving the NH State Shoot off its traditional date, a motion was made by Fred Lewis and seconded by Jeff Lafleur to maintain the traditional date for 2005 which will be July 8th, 9th and 10th.  The motion passed by majority with 12 in favor and 10 opposed.

A letter to Dan Madden, President of NHTA, from the Minute Man Sportsman’s Club was read into the record.  The letter thanked the NHTA for allowing MMSC to host the 2004 NH State Shoot and invited the NHTA back to MMSC for 2005 if necessary.

A discussion of the location for the 2005 NH State Shoot ensued.

After lengthy discussion, a motion was made by Fred Lewis and seconded by Susan Wright to hold the 2005 NH State Shoot at the Minute Man Sportsman’s Club.  The motion passed by majority with 12 in favor, 8 opposed.  Phil Wright did not vote because of his position as Treasurer at MMSC.

A letter will be sent to MMSC requesting confirmation of the date and their willingness to host the shoot.  A letter will also be sent to PF&G explaining the association’s decision and expressing our intention to work with PF&G in reestablishing ATA shooting at the club in hopes of returning the State Shoot to NH in 2006.

Peter Tomaini expressed his willingness to procure the State Shoot pins for 2005.

Fred Parker will take care of the printing and mailing of the state shoot program.  Phil Wright will make the necessary changes to the program and provide Fred with the updated computer file.

It is the intent of the NHTA to offer pre-registration for the NH State Shoot at a shoot held by PF&G some time in the spring.  Pre-registration will also be available by mail but squad assignments for mail-ins will be made subsequent to those assigned at the pre-registration shoot.  If for some reason a pre-registration shoot is not held, all pre-registration will be by mail.

The possibility of a shell raffle being held during the State Shoot was discussed. It was not deemed that the NHTA would need the additional revenue because of the enhanced attendance when the shoot is held at MMSC but if Lone Pine Hunters Club wanted to run a shell raffle to benefit their legal defense fund, it would be supported by NHTA.

Peter Tomani raised the issue of NHTA’s involvement in Scholastic Clay Target Program.  He indicated that PF&G was participating in the program and stated that he thought that the program was worth promoting.  Peter will work with Fred Lewis to investigate the possibilities of further promotion of the program in NH.

A committee was established to work with PF&G to reestablish ATA shooting at PF&G.  The primary objective of this committee will be to help return ATA shoots to the club in hopes of returning the NH State Shoot to NH in 2006.  The committee is headed by Dan Madden. Members include; Fred Parker, Peter Tomani, Fred Lewis, Kim Lafleur, Jeff Lafleur.

Peter Tomani agreed to consider the possibility of becoming the webmaster for the existing NHTA website.  If Peter decides favorably; Phil Wright will work with Peter and Richard Conner, current webmaster, to provide the necessary tools to ensure a smooth transition.

Phil Wright reported on matters related to the ATA including the relocation of the Grand American Tournament.  He also explained the target requirements for the participation in the 2005 Grand American.
